Conduct of Local Public Transportation Route Planning and Management Course

Duration: Jan 2018-Dec 2018
Client: Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in JV with UP-PLANADES

The Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUV-MP) of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) which seeks to provide a long-term solution for the problems related to road-based public transport services in the country involves ten (10) basic components. One such component is Local Public Transport Planning (LPTP). Under this component, each Local Government Unit (LGU) shall prepare and submit a Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) pursuant to the Omnibus Guidelines on the Planning and Identification of Public Road Transportation Services and Franchise Issuance or the Omnibus Franchising Guideline (OFG) of the DOTr. This move considers the fact that the LGUs have first-hand knowledge on the public transport situation, the needs of the people and local transport problems in their respective localities.

In view of the above, it is imperative that the LGUs themselves be equipped with basic knowledge on how to plan their respective local public transport services to serve public transport demand in a more efficient manner. To achieve this, a Local Public Transport Route Planning and Management (LPTRPM) Course project shall be conducted for the various LGUs in the country.

The main activity of this project is basically the conduct of a capacity building program for LGUs, called the Local Public Transport Route Planning and Management (LPTRPM) course.
